According to the article, there will be more smartphones than Desktop PCs by 2011. However, what they are saying is that there will only be more smartphones than PCs, but they make it sound like people will use their smartphones more than their desktops.
I think that is wrong because even if there are more smartphones than computers, there are over 3.3 BILLION cell phones out there. Combine that with the fact there are 6 billion people in the world and more than half have never even seen a phone, means that people have multiple cell phones. This also means that people upgrade their cell phones all the time, and the same applies to smartphones.
There will be more smartphones but more people will be using desktops rather than smartphones. Also they don’t account for smartphones that have been disposed of, they only see how many have been sold. It’s a misleading statistic.
