Why would you want to start a blog? It could be for any number of reasons. How hard can it be to start one? Not very. You just need a few things to get started.

You can go to WordPress.com and sign up for a blog. They will set you up and in only a few minutes you can start posting.

An alternative to WordPress is Blogger. This is another site that lets you host your blog on their servers, which are, in fact, hosted by Google so you can use your Google account.

Now once you start your blog, you have to customize it. You can do this by finding a custom theme. The Hybrid Fire theme is based off the iTheme with a few modifications I did myself. You can find the themes by going to Google and searching for WordPress themes or Blogger themes to give it the personal look.

What do you need after that? CONTENT! You need to start posting immediately. Once you have valuable content, people will visit your blog. Don’t believe me? Hybrid Fire is proof of this working. I spent about $8 on the domain hybridfire.net and after that, I put up a WordPress blog. I started posting a lot of news about E3 because E3 was the current thing going on during the time. Within the first month I had 10,000 visitors and I didn’t spend a cent on advertising. After a few weeks I found many of my articles on Google. I submitted my blog to blog carnivals, which basically contain articles from the millions of blogs on the internet and link back to the source, which was my blog.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender finale was another critical boost to this blog. My cousin wrote up a long extensive article on it and posted the link to a forum, which spiked my view count. Many of the visitors were happy with the post and the page views kept going up.

As you can see, as long as you have content, you will get views. But what can go wrong? Not much can happen if your blog is hosted on Wordpress or Blogger, but if you host it yourself, issues may occur. For example, Hybrid Fire, 6 months after the blog version, had it’s entire database destroyed. Everything was gone, so the views disappeared completely.

So unless you are savvy enough to host your own blog, just stick with the more established services.

Questions or comments? Leave them below and I’ll get to them as soon as I can.

My little proxy has had a revamp. It’s basically the same, with some of the options unavailable to you since most don’t really need them on. Also it just looks a lot better. As always, it is ad-free!

Cell Phones

According to the article, there will be more smartphones than Desktop PCs by 2011. However, what they are saying is that there will only be more smartphones than PCs, but they make it sound like people will use their smartphones more than their desktops.

I think that is wrong because even if there are more smartphones than computers, there are over 3.3 BILLION cell phones out there. Combine that with the fact there are 6 billion people in the world and more than half have never even seen a phone, means that people have multiple cell phones. This also means that people upgrade their cell phones all the time, and the same applies to smartphones.

There will be more smartphones but more people will be using desktops rather than smartphones. Also they don’t account for smartphones that have been disposed of, they only see how many have been sold. It’s a misleading statistic.

Snow Leopard Box

I haven’t done a review in a long time so I thought I’d start with this.

I got my Macbook Pro 15″ in late June 2009, so I was eligible for the $10 Snow Leopard upgrade. I ordered it the same day.

However, my friend ordered it 2 days before Snow Leopard shipped, yet somehow he received his copy of it on release day while I waited until 4 days later. That, my friends, is bull, but what can you do.

This Macbook Pro is my first Mac after being a long time PC user (like 10 years). I’m not sure how to go through this review so I decided to go on the Apple page for Snow Leopard and just go down the list.

But first, you have to know this: I upgraded from Leopard when I first got it and then after a few days, decided to clean install because I felt it would be faster if I clean installed, so I backed up what I could and have not migrated anything yet for the purposes of this review.

It's like crack

Apparently, a whole lot of city workers were on Facebook for 572 hours during one month. That’s a good thing to be doing in this economy right?

What the hell! How did being on Facebook for 572 hours not get them fired? The only effect of the prolonged exposure to the dreaded Facebook was getting banned, but even then they are allowed to use it if necessary. What…the…hell.

Finally, after about 7 months of deadness, the Hybrid Fire Blog has returned. Ever since the site database was deleted on December 2008, I have been weary of starting all over again, especially after all the hard work of the people who posted on this blog. I have absolutely nothing available to you kind peoples of the internet.

All previous posts have been lost forever to time.

The timeline of my development is as follows:

During December, I was working on a site for aid to veterans of the Iraqi War. During this time I gained much more knowledge of web design and code itself.

During January, I continued to work on the site, and at the same time, work on Hybrid Fire, my playground for web development.

The months of February, March, April, May, June, and July saw pretty much the same thing. During August, the veteran aid website met a huge revamp as I discovered JQuery.

Now however, it is September and the school year is about to begin. I will be a high school senior this year.

That’s pretty much it about me.

The advertisement policy: I will have no ads on hybridfire.net until January for miscellaneous reasons. I want the site to develop and not just cover it in ads before there is a reason for people to visit.

I hope this post will be the start of many more to come, as I bring relevant news to you, my readers.
